Flintstone Party for my two year old.

The very first thing I buy for a party are party hats and I jazz them up with pom pom's, stickers, gems, bows just about anything I find fun. Plain party hats are a bore to me I need spice. Spice brings out all the hidden colors you fail to see.
The next detail I made was the number 2 we always have one every year decorated with the theme of the Party. Then we place it on our wall with a picture
Then I choose location of the party. This year I choose A Natural Science Museum because of their impressive Prehistoric Dinosaur Exhibit they were featuring. For it would make a great backdrop for the caveman themed party as well as be a rewarding learning experience.

After Choosing a location, date and time I can then make an invite for the party
I went to a good friend of mine http://www.poshnchicprints.com/
If she does not have it on her website find her thumbnails and she will make one. Which is what she did here. I love her and it even comes with envelopes.
I always get a t-shirt for his party or invite with the number he is turning and the theme of that party. So later when I have enough t-shirt I will make a quilt and give it to him as a momento. As for where I take a picture of him wearing it I try to get creative and do something that has to do with what he is wearing...So Bambam, Pebbles looks great with a dinosaur behind them. However he was not tall enough so I sat him on a ladder and covered with a blanket. I also always include his snoopy.

After Invites are done I buy costumes or make costumes.
When your children are young they will just about wear anything silly and fun so I soo take advantage of that. If they are going to be silly we are all going to be silly. I don't hire strangers to dress up at my party I use people I love and admire. Saves money and is a much better picture because you love the people in the moment your sharing with them. You know them and will treasure the memory long after the party is over. Plus you have an extra halloween costume.
 Toys collected over the years.
I knew the Mcdonalds toys would come in handy one day haha & some bought on ebay
I do not really do party favors I do prizes. Kids love winning something more than just receiving something
I count how many invites and kids are coming and I buy how many toys I need to give out. I have easy and hard games to come up with but all are fun regardless. Put the spot on the dino

The fun part...THE CAKE
You can save money by not doing fondant and making clay figures to put on top of the cake or around the cake. Tristan had a lot of fun making them with me as well. You can also keep them after the party as a memento in a shadow box or something. The other thing I did to save money was buy barbie dolls ..a bambam and pebbles and then resold them on ebay after I was finished with the party.
You will also see a cave on the cake that is a Mc Donalds toy I bought for a buck on ebay

A flintstone car and a volcano from his bedroom as decoration at that party.
The cake is a two tier cake orange with black triangles and his name on it. Grass to put around the house and a candle with the number two. It may look complicated but it was not. Very affordable too.
The Food!!

I had pebble berry punch which was Pink lemonade with blueberries
Dinosaur eggs..which were easter eggs from ebay and painted with t-shirt paint to flintstonefye them. Then a sticker to seal them that says happy birthday Tristan and the flintstone gang on them. Inside were M&Ms candy. Make sure no one has peanut allergies.

Carrot cupcakes with fruity pebble cereal as topping. Printed thumbnails cut in a circle on popsicle sticks

Ham and cheese and cheese and turkey and just cheese
cut with cookie cutters

Chicken salad sandwich for the adults.

Most are leftovers from past parties and things lying around the home. So I always recommend before buying anything scavenge through what you have first.
I always do thank you cards for I am so blessed for all my loved ones and friends for coming and supporting my son as he grows up. I cam up with Thank You for a roariffic birthday and other cute ways of saying thank you. I made a collage on my computer for each person specialized with their gift they gave Tristan and them having fun at the party. This year I gave out dino crayons from etsy http://bit.ly/maxwax
I could of made them myself but I liked contributing to max who has autism and when you buy crayons max wax from his mom it goes to helping children " Over 30% of the crayons we manufacture are given away to schools, faith communities, libraries, & happy children."  SO sometimes it is better not to save money and buy from local shops who are making a difference.
